Lake Murray Fourth of July Celebration
The 23rd Fourth of July Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011. This is the largest Fourth of July Celebration in South Carolina. The boat parade will start between 12:30-1pm with the Parade assembly at Bomb Island and move toward the Lake Murray Dam. It will pass the Lexington Park Site and make the half circle around the Towers and then pass the Irmo Park Site. After which time, the boats will pass the Leader Boat, the Southern Patriot, for judging and photos. The best spots to view the parade is from one of the Parks sites on the dam. The fireworks will launch at dusk (approximately 9:10pm) from Dreher Island and Spence Island. The best viewing spots for the shows will be both parks at the Lake Murray Dam and Dreher Island State.

Lexington County Peach Festival, Gilbert South Carolina
The 53rd annual Peach Festival will be held on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Gilbert South Carolina. The parade will begin at 9:30am and begins at the corner of Crosson and Hampton Streets. It will turn right onto Main Street and continue just past Hayes Street where it will turn left onto an Access Road. This festival is one of the oldest and most successful in our state. Over the years, it has allowed our community club to raise monies for countless community projects, the most significant being the total construction of our Gilbert Community Park. Our park is open to all regardless of race, color, or creed. It is a place of great beauty and quiet contemplation. Families enjoy outings under the picnic shelters. Children play on the playground. Walkers hike the hills and curving paths. On most Easter Sundays, the community churches meet together in the park for the Community Sunrise Service. Each year, hundreds and hundreds of folks visit and enjoy our park. Other projects include donations to our schools, our fire department, our town library, Girl’s State, and Festival Scholarships.
